Rehabilitation Hallways

Rehabilitation hallways (RH) is a new initiative undertaken to improve communication and sharing of information between CAPM&R members. Some physiatrists practice in an environment where they do not always have easy access to colleagues for "hallway consultations". Using VRH, physiatrists can hold online discussions with one or several other colleagues regarding a challenging case or the use of a particular test or therapeutic intervention. The groups are currently run through a public site (Yahoo) in order to keep expenses at a minimum. There are currently several groups running, including Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Injury, Pain (including musculoskeletal rehab and other pain issues), Prosthetics and Orthotics, and the Habilitation Hallway for Pediatrics. If enough interest is generated in this service, the CAPM&R will investigate the feasibility of establishing a similar, privately run service through the website.

For more information about RH, or to become a subscriber and start participating in online discussions with like-minded physiatry colleagues, contact Dr. Tim Deutscher (initiator and supervisor of RH) at tdmd@shaw.ca.
