CAPM&R Research Committee

Terms of Reference

Chair: Appointed by the Executive. The Chair shall be a rehabilitation researcher

Vice Chair: Appointed by the Executive, ordinarily with the expectation that he/she will become the Chair when the position becomes vacant.

Terms of Office for Officers: 3 years.

Committee Membership: Members shall include:

  • CAPM&R members involved in and/or supportive of rehabilitation research, on the recommendation of the Chair.
  • The Chair of the Scientific Program Committee or his/her designate shall also be a member of the Research Committee.
  • A PM&R resident.

Meetings: The Committee shall meet at least once per year, at the time of the Annual CAPM&R Meeting. These meetings shall be open to any interested member of the CAPM&R or other invited guests.

Activities: The Committee’s activities include the following:

  • Assist researchers in communicating with each other and the CAPM&R
  • Assist the Scientific Program Committee in offering educational sessions at Annual Meetings
  • Organize regular meetings of the CAPM&R Research Special Interest Group (SIG)
  • Advise the Executive on CAPM&R research policy
  • Promote rehabilitation research
  • Support rehabilitation researchers
  • Operate an annual research contest for PM&R residents
  • Operate an annual research contest for students
  • Operate means to recognize the research excellence of CAPM&R members
  • Liaise, in matters of rehabilitation research, with other bodies
  • Advise the Executive regarding budgetary matters

Reporting: The Committee shall report to the Executive as directed and annually to the membership, at the Annual General Meeting.
